Definition of Ḥibr

Al-hibr: the beautiful trace, the pleasant effect.

Hence the hadith: 'A man will emerge from the Fire having lost his hibr and sabr' (his beauty and radiance).

Al-ahbâr (rabbis) are named thus because they leave beautiful traces through their knowledge.

Allah says: 'Why do the rabbis (al-ahbâr) not forbid them?' (Al-Mâ'ida: 63).

Surah Al-Maida : 44 Medinan
Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to Allah] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers.
Surah Al-Maida : 63 Medinan
Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing.
Surah At-Tawba : 31 Medinan
They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.
Surah At-Tawba : 34 Medinan
O you who have believed, indeed many of the scholars and the monks devour the wealth of people unjustly and avert [them] from the way of Allah. And those who hoard gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah - give them tidings of a painful punishment.
Surah Ar-Rum : 15 Meccan
And as for those who had believed and done righteous deeds, they will be in a garden [of Paradise], delighted.
Surah Az-Zukhruf : 70 Meccan
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
