Definition Al-mradf

Al-mradf according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

What has one referent and many names; it is the opposite of the mushtarak (the equivocal).

Al-mradf according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

A term was called the muradif (synonym) of another for its accompanying it: that is, its coinciding with it in its meaning. (Ghayat al-wusul, p. 43).
