Definition Al-ḥyra

Al-ḥyra according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

That which arises from a contradiction between evidences.

Al-ḥyra according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

The state of the perpexed person, which is the one who does not find the correct path due to the matter being obscure to him. The corresponding verb is hara yahiru, in the pattern of haba yahabu.
