With fatha of the 'ayn. In language: everything having a root and a fixed settlement, such as land, a house, estates, and palms; taken from ''aqr ad-dar' (the foot of the house). Some said: it is sometimes applied to the house's furnishings; one says: 'ma lahu dar wa-la 'aqar': of the palm (what has neither dwelling nor 'aqar); and 'fi l-bayt 'aqar hasan': the house has fine furnishings, that is, furniture and utensils.

Plural: 'aqarat; its counterpart is the movable (manqul). ''Al-'aqar of anything': its option.
