📖 2 min readSuch a one: to give him a covenant. In the Quran: [al-Ahzab, 23: 'Among the believers are men who were true to the covenant they made with Allah: some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some await, and they have not altered in the least.']. He is then mu'ahad and mu'ahid.
Al-ta'ahhud: to take hold of a thing and renew the covenant concerning it. Al-'ahd: knowledge. (plural) 'uhud.
The bequest; in the Quran: [al-An'am, 152: 'And fulfil the covenant of Allah.']. The compact. The compact written for the governors.
The guarantee (dhimma). Security; one says of the man of war who enters under safe conduct: he is a covenant-holder, and mu'ahad. The oath by which one secures the one who has covenanted with you; you say: I have the covenant of Allah to do such a thing.
Faithfulness; in the glorious Book: [al-A'raf, 102: 'And We found no covenant in most of them.']. The meeting; one says: my appointed meeting with him is near, that is, my encounter.
