1948 z- al-Hubab ibn 'Umayr al-Sulami:
al-Dhakwani. He lived to witness [the era of the Prophet].
Wathimah mentioned regarding him, in [his account of] the Apostasy (al-Riddah), a counsel that he gave to the Banu Hanifah enjoining them to hold fast to Islam, and there are also attributed to him a sermon and much speech on that subject. Ibn Fathun added him [to the companions].
1949 z- Hibal:
With a kasrah on its first letter, a light [unstressed] ba', and a lam at the end, ibn Tulayhah ibn Khuwaylid.
The mention of his father will come [later]; as for him, he was alive when his father claimed prophethood, for Ibn Durayd mentioned that Tulayhah said to his companions, when thirst had afflicted them: Mount [the road of] Hibal, and strike forth parables (amthal), and you will find water (bilal). And they found water just as he said.
And al-bilal: means water. He said: That was among the things by which he increased them in their tribulation, and the meaning of "Mount Hibal" is: follow his road; and Hibal is his son.
