Biography of al-Harith ibn Thabit ibn Sufyan
And 'Abd al-Rahman, and Zayd, and Sa'id, the sons of 'Amr ibn Ghaziyyah, and none of them has any narration except al-Harith (١); thus claimed some (٢) of those who composed (works) on the Companions, and in what (٣) he said of that there is room for reconsideration. The one who narrated from the Prophet ﷺ was al-Hajjaj ibn 'Amr ibn Ghaziyyah, concerning which they do not differ; and I do not think this al-Harith is the son of 'Amr ibn Ghaziyyah, and Allah knows best.
And al-Sha'bi narrated, on the authority of al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, he said: The name of my maternal uncle was Qalil ("little"), so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named him Kathir ("much") (٤).
And it may be possible that he had maternal uncles and paternal uncles.
