The believers are equal with regard to their blood, and the covenant granted by the lowliest of them must be honored; whoever is given a covenant must not be killed while his covenant is still in force. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Khālid ibn al-Walīd to Ukaydir of Dūmah, and he made peace with him on condition that they pay the Jizyah.
