Short answer

The section brings together five authentic or good hadiths on religious innovation, complemented by two hadiths in the subcategory devoted to the Ahl-us-Sunnah (Sunni) stance on religious innovators, i.e. seven texts in total. The basic rule is stated there: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours (Islam) something that does not belong to it shall have it rejected". The hadiths then contrast whoever introduces a good practice, rewarded along with those who follow it, with whoever introduces an evil one, burdened with their sins, and warn against the scholar who deviates to the point of accusing his neighbor of polytheism.
